Fatherhood: A Famine of Fatherhood, Processing Pain To Become Powerful

Greater Relationship, Greater Impact

When I attended Pastor Benny Hinn’s 13 week Timothy Class for youth desirous of entering the ministry in 1991 while attending Orlando Christian Center, at the end of the training I received a prophetic word from Pastor Benny. Kamagra pills

Kamagra 50mg pills

Pastor Benny anointed me with oil and prophesied: “You will know the heart of God the Father and out of that will flow your ministry. You will have an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit.”

Some fifteen years later, I am just now beginning to understand that word and the principle of fatherhood in the kingdom of God.

The apostle Paul said we have ten thousand instructors in Christ, but not many fathers (1 Corinthians 4:15). Fathers are accessible, touchable, relatable and there for you when you need them. Fathers give you more than a sermon or word of instruction. They give you their lives.

“As apostles of Christ we could have been a burden to you, but we were gentle among you, like a mother caring for her little children. We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.” (1 Thessalonians 2:7-8)

There are not many spiritual fathers in the American Church who will train, empower and send the young out to do the work of the ministry. Pastor Roberts Liardon is one man who isn’t afraid to empower the younger generation.

I received outstanding Biblical training at Spirit Life Bible College, after which I have ministered in 40 countries and 6 continents. I served with Operation 500 throughout south-east Asia for the first two years this missionary labor force was sent forth to the “uttermost parts of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

Pastor Cesar Castellanos has been used greatly by God to mobilize the body of Christ, train Pastors in proper discipleship, and implement church growth strategies that reap results.

The model of mentoring that Jesus used with His twelve disciples needs to be restored and brought back to the Church in our era. The day of the one- man show is over. The day of men of God lording themselves over God’s heritage is also over. The day of combining generational strength, the cooperation of the pulpit and the pew, the family of faith and the army of the Lord has fully come!

As Dr. Bill Hamon has written in his books on the apostolic and prophetic, we are in a day of the saints. Every member of the body of Christ must supply his or her part. We all have something to give and contribute. None of us are as strong as all of us. When we come together, it is better for all of us. Breakthrough believers are needed throughout the earth to reap the end-time harvest of souls. The church of the living God is the net by which to keep the souls that shall come in during these last days.

Unless we become as children we will not enter the kingdom of God (Matthew 18). Unless we get off our our priestly pedestals and consider the young, God will remove us and replace us with shepherds with His heart.

The younger generation is crying out to God like the prophet Isaiah of old saying, “Here am I, send me!” but there is nobody to give them the time of day, proper training and empowerment. Thus they are dying within, not being built up in Christ, nor released into their calling. Meanwhile this adulterous and perverse generation goes to hell in a handbasket. Only this generation can reach this generation. It is imperative therefore that the aged train and empower the younger.

When I bless small children, it does something for my heart. As I ministered in New Mexico and witnessed the Spirit of God touching small children, it melted me within. Small children testified of the touch of the Holy Spirit upon them and their families. All were amazed and captivated by the gentleness and greatness of our God.

Kids are people too! The young lions within the church count too! Unless we awake and begin to train them, they will get bored and walk away from God. What a tragedy to see gifted young people leave the church because they and their abilities were not embraced, celebrated and utilized for the cause of Christ.

Something that we need from our spiritual fathers is transparency. We need to see how they process their pain. Most often we get to see our leaders on the mountain top when they are powerful and victorious. Thank God for that! Yet in order for us to truly be able to relate to them and be victorious ourselves, we must see the total picture of their lives.

Elijah wasn’t much of a people person. His protege Elisha never got to see him when he was down. When Elijah felt defeated he ran away and hid all alone (1Kings 19:4). Elijah was a wounded warrior. Sadly by denying Elisha true relationship, Elisha too had wounds, only of a different sort. Elisha had a father wound.

Our God is the Lord of the hills and the valleys (Deuteromony 11:11). We therefore need leaders who can teach us how to get through life’s lows, how to rise above personal pain and process it with dignity. Denial doesn’t do away with our problems, neither does it develop our spiritual sons and daughters.

I greatly appreciated my natural fathers’s humility to apologize when he had lost his temper, acted out of character and made a mistake in any way. This taught me it is ok to err. It taught me to “buy the truth” (Proverbs 23:23) and not fear falling short as we grow in grace to live up to our values and beliefs. Progression is a personal process, as is transformation which doesn’t happen overnight.

Pastor Benny told us in class, “Never trust a man that cannot use his eraser.” That is to say if a person cannot admit to wrong doing and their own mistakes, they cannot be trusted. Every pencil comes with an eraser for a reason. We all are prone to err, as none of us are perfect.

You are not your performance! We need fathers who can love unconditionally, bear the reproach of their sons and not abandon them when they are need them most. Sadly many spiritual leaders only afford relationship to those who have some contribution to make to their ministry be it ministerially or monetarily, after which they remove themselves. This is not the heart of God, neither is it true fathering.

You know who your friends and spiritual fathers are because when everybody else walks away from you in your time of crisis, they draw near and support you. They love you unconditionally and support you wholeheartedly.

When warriors are wounded, exhausted, tired, weary in well doing and confused this is not the time to abandon them. We need fathers with experience of years, who are battle worn, wise hearted and understand what it is like to have been there who can relate. Such men can speak into our lives from a deep place of strength and inner fortitude. Because they can feel, their words can heal.

We need men who can walk with us, talk with us, see eye to eye, and help us through our times of turmoil. As sons and daughters, we must not let up in our pursuit of the aged who can help us get over the ditches life brings us. We need the fatherly impartation, wealth of wisdom and divine direction that comes from fathers in the faith. Elisha knew this and thus he received a double portion from Elijah by which he was strengthened to fulfill his calling (2 Kings 2).

What Exactly Is the Paleo Caveman Diet?

The Paleo caveman diet, as the name implies, is the consumption of food similar to what our ancestors used to eat during the Paleolithic Age. This form of diet was introduced by gastroenterologist Walter L. Voegtlin. He used the method for the effective treatment of patients with digestive problems. Its effectiveness was further proven by anthropologist Weston Price and it even brought up more advocates. Further studies provide evidence that our ancestors have very strong bone structures and there is little evidence on the aspect of bone decay Degenerative health problems were rare cases.

If you want to follow this kind of diet, you should remember the foods that you can eat and those you must avoid. Basically, you will be taking in a very healthy diet. But, because you will be advocating the eating habits during the primitive time, you should familiarize yourself with foods which you can only include in your meal plans.

Meat from fish and chicken are identified as paleo foods. Since hunting was the way of living for primitive humans, lean meat from animals can be one of your choices when you decide to follow this kind of diet. Eggs are also included and they are good sources of protein. You can have portions of it in your daily meals.

Not all vegetables are part of the paleo caveman diet. Basically root vegetables are what our ancestors used to eat. These includes carrots and parsnips. Our ancestors utilize the agricultural resources. Corn and potatoes are not included because they are not part of the human diet during the Paleolithic Age. You can prepare the root vegetables in a lot of ways. You can make variations for every meal.

Berries are the fruits that are commonly included for this diet. You can choose from the variety of raspberries, strawberries and blueberries. There are those which are not included such as apples and peaches. Today, these fruits are already cultivated to yield more sugar from them. Fruits are great when you decide to lose some weight.

You can also include nuts on your meal plans whenever you decide to follow a paleo diet. However there are limited types of nuts for such. During the time of our ancestors, they used to gather nuts, remove their shells and make it as part of their meals.

There are foods which are forbidden when following this kind of diet. Grains are not allowed. Bread, pasta and other food products which have grain content must not be included in your meal plans. Processed foods are definitely forbidden because most of the meals during the Paloelithic age are natural. Sugar and salt must not be added on your meals.

When you decide to return to this kind of eating habit, it will bring about a lot of benefits to your body. Paleo caveman diet will rid you of certain diseases caused by the intake of unhealthy foods. They also provide you with enough energy for the day and even allow you to lose some weight if desired.

In Love With ‘Love’

Rumi, the celebrated Persian philosopher and poet said,

“Listen to the flute (ney), how it tells a tale complaining of separation!

Saying, “Ever since I was separated from the reed bed my lament has caused man and woman to moan.”

This axiom implies the pathos of real love, the tradition of Ishq (True Love) that encompasses human being in the corporeal world and throws it way beyond the limitation of mortality and transience; thus Ishq is considered, by the mystics, the only way of attaining immortality and fervency.

Renowned Urdu poets carried this thought and concept of frequently in their poetry, if Meer found Ishq as the mannerism of life, Ghalib labeled it as the ultimate incarnation of the romance that we had been obsessed with; in connection with God and nature.

Iqbal’s point of view regarding Ishq was nothing else but the real force and power of knowing one’s self-esteem (Khudi) that could make him as vast and deep as oceans may be, and as infinite and unfathomable as the universe could be.

Persian tradition of exploring Ishq has been a vital urge behind its art and literature, apart from Rumi, Jami, Hafiz and Saa’di, all have been crafting their thoughts into the lyricism of mystic or Sufi poetry while, the same beliefs got their way out of the diminutive frames of Persian Miniature Painting.

Rahat Naveed Masud is the daughter of this soil that has absorbed the nectar of Sufism and Bhakti (the Hindu path of achieving salvation) since ages. She is inspired by the Persian Muslim tradition of expression through illuminated manuscripts personifying subtle sentiments with innocent symbols and blameless details. She might have run her fingers along the free flowing lines of the miniatures of Shahnama, Hamzanama, Kalila-o Dimna or Sherin Farhad to immerse her paintings in the same rhythm and surge in form. While the themes of Rahat’s painting suggest that she may well have listened to the anecdotal aspect of these mentioned manuscripts as well, however, she has her own voice and own lines.

Rahat is not a miniature painter as far as her technique goes, but thematically, she can be found as mystic, as paradoxical and as intoxicated as the Persian or Mughal miniature painters were in their own times.

She is an artist of contemporary epoch, an artist with unique and precised approach towards life. She has got a peculiar doctrine to focus on life to extract passionate truth and rational spirituality out of it, and then converting it into a visual experience through her art that can touch viewers’ wisdom and emotions at the same time.

Keeping in view Rahat’s earlier work of art, one can find the murmurs and peeps of fragility, often associated with women of this part of the world. She has always looked upon a woman’s physical and emotional world with an eye of a woman, which a man could be deprived of because of gender sensitization or gender itself.

In the recent show however, under the title of ‘ISHQ Series’ the painter has groped the physical and metaphysical world with an inner eye mostly associated with mystic school of thought and spirituality.

Aside from the figurative work, Rahat also put on display, few frames of abstract or conceptual nature. A large painting with blue paint applied vigorously in a circular movement around a very delicately rendered golden square, could lead a viewer to the quadrangle balance that the Muslim ideology expresses in the concept of the paradise (Jannah) or in the concrete appearance of the Ka’aba. The gyrating brushstrokes, in blue, may also be linked to the circular movement of Tawaf (an essential practice of Hajj) in relation with the black cube; Ka’aba.

Along with the abstract frames, the figurative canvases were in company of the symbols and objects, you may find traditionally in the Persian Literature and Art. A painting titled as ‘The Burning Moth’ seems as a true expression of the centuries old concept of the love of a moth for the burning candle, which is actually a symbolic reference of a human as a moth for the ultimate love of his Lord (Allah), for Whom the adjective of light (Noor) is vastly acceptable.

Another painting of this show, named as ‘the Light and the Moth-2′, is found bridging the worldly and mortal life of human beings with the eternity and holiness that have always been longed for by the mortal man. The beauty of this painting is the style and interpretation of many unspoken feelings normally associated with the woman of the East who prefers to be burnt to ashes in love, emotions and wait, over expressing her true miseries of loneliness and disappointment. Here in this frame, the combination of a young and emotionally vulnerable woman and a fragile moth is quite remarkable. The reclining posture of the young lady is not familiar with the western portraitures of the reclining woman; this painting clearly shows the true attitude and position of the woman of India or Pakistan, or in broader sense, of the South-Asian woman as she lies on her belly with her hair locks going across her back over the scapulas while dreams, tightly captured in fists letting ajar eyes remain empty.

The barrenness of the eyes again attracts the onlooker’s eye in ‘the Deluge’ where the same South-Asian young and fragile woman is painted sitting in a balcony or a window. In this painting, her dreams are shown, in a very artistic and conceptual deception, sunk in deep waters of the flooded terrain in the background where only minarets of a mosque and tops of the sunken trees are obvious. In this painting, the artist has expressed, very skillfully, the sense of being deluged emotionally after the torrent around. The golden lining on the rear silhouette of the woman causes the luminosity that adds a devout touch to this frame.

The use of gold in Rahat’s paintings is not only suggestive of a relationship of these frames with the traditional Muslim Miniatures, but it also advocates the gleam which is directly associated with holiness and purity; light as opposed to the darkness.

In this show, the artist also presented a video in connection with the title ‘ISHQ’. That video featured the life and activities of Malangs and Darvishes at various shrines of Lahore. It was an interesting clip regarding life style of these self-indulged Malangs who claimed to be burning in the fire of true love or ISHQ. Interestingly, the video did not feature any woman contrary to the series of paintings where image and imagery of woman seemed pivotal.

In 2007 at the annual show of Artists’ Association of Punjab (AAP), Rahat Naveed displayed a painting of abstract nature which was different from the signature figurative work she was well known for. That was a nonfigurative frame with a golden square in the center of a well painted crimson canvas titled as ‘the Square’. It was quite a big transformation of style, keeping in view the usual style of Rahat; though, she had been inserting few geometrical and floral elements and objects which ultimately served a sense of spiral-continuity through her entire work.

The ISHQ series, if seen in its own capacity, can make a viewer go astray with the force of emotional discharge the painter has exercised in few of her frames. However, if you would look on this display as the continuation of the previously conceived ideology and thoughts, you may find yourself, accompanying the artist, revolving around the centripetal idea of human yearning for eternal love and eternity. The paintings of Rahat Naveed, show a revolving journey from figures to portraits, from portraits to objects, from objects to metaphor, and from metaphor to forceful strokes of abstract renderings.

Properties Of The Best Hair Vitamins

Losing one’s hair can be a disheartening experience. Looking for the best hair vitamins can suddenly become a priority for males of a certain age. For older men, hair loss can signify the relinquishing of youth and the loss of virility. Looking into the mirror every day and watching one’s hair line recede can instill in a man a feeling of helplessness.

For younger men, the loss of one’s hair can be extremely embarrassing and mortifying. A man who is entering the epitome of his attractiveness can be greatly hindered by a premature receding hair line. In order to combat this phenomenon, many men turn to vitamin supplements. However, with so many different brands on the market it is important to know what properties and ingredients to look for.

One of the best ways to combat hair loss is to prevent its occurrence. Men should start thinking about hair loss before it becomes a reality. The best hair vitamins always have Biotin in them. Not only does this ingredient keep the skin and the hair healthy, it also strengthens hair and prevents its eventual loss. While not all men need to prescribe to the best hair vitamins at a young age, they would benefit from taking a daily multivitamin that has Biotin in it.

All good vitamin brands also have healthy doses of Niacin in them. Niacin is a form of vitamin B that increases circulation throughout the body. This vitamin is ideal in hair growth products because it helps to dilate the pores in the scalp, which then increases circulation and triggers hair growth. A person looking for the best hair vitamins must ensure that Niacin is included in a product’s ingredient list.

The final property that should be in hair growth medication is a good dosage of amino acids. Hair follicles require more proteins in order to grow and regenerate. Amino acids are essentially proteins that can help to stimulate this process. Not only do they increase the production of hair, but they also ensure that the hair that does grow is shiny, healthy, and luscious. The best hair vitamins will always have large amounts of amino acids in them.

Losing one’s hair does not have to be a devastating experience. There are many ways to combat this process and the least invasive type is the ingestion of vitamins. The best hair vitamins will always have Niacin, Biotin, and amino acids in them. So look for these ingredients and regain that full and beautiful head of hair.

The Great Juice Debate

The recent revelation of Arsenic in Apple Juice has parents concerned and frustrated. Concerned because children are the single biggest consumers of juice; Frustrated because they think juice is 100% healthy.

I’m not going to debate whether I think the study from Dr. Oz is legitimate or not, as it probably is pretty accurate. I think Juice is dangerously misunderstood by 99.9% of the population.

Juice is not a health food! Kids should not be drinking juice everyday, throughout the day. The juice from fruit is actually the bad part of the fruit; it’s the fruit minus all the fiber, and micronutrients. It’s pure fructose.

Only your liver can metabolize fructose so let me take you on a journey through your liver when you consume juice. Your body first has to give up phosphates to start metabolizing the fructose making the waste product Uric Acid (causes gout) which blocks the enzymes from making Nitric Oxide (keeps your blood pressure low), when you can’t make nitric oxide your blood pressure goes up. Nova Lipogenesis gets activated and now you get fat. When you consume fructose you are consuming fat. Fructose increases inflammation in the liver by initiating an enzyme that is truly and appropriately named “Junk 1.” Free fatty acids form and populate muscles. Some fat will not make it out of your liver, and you wind up with fatty liver, Non-Alcoholic Liver Disease.

Your pancreas starts working harder generating more insulin because your liver becomes insulin resistant. The more insulin your pancreas makes the higher your blood pressure goes and it also generates more fat. The higher your insulin goes your brain can’t see it’s leptin (the thing that tells your brain you are full) and you keep consuming calories because your body thinks it’s starving.

Is it any wonder why the obesity epidemic is growing fastest in 2-5 year olds? That young children are being diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure, gout, fatty liver disease, heart disease, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and high cholesterol? ALL of these things happen with chronic fructose exposure.

One thing you can do as a parent to give your kids the best chance at having a healthy life is to limit all beverage consumption to plain water, and milk. It’s probably the single most important thing you can do. Offer fresh fruits and veggies. Fructose is absorbed differently if consumed in its natural whole fruit form as the fiber attached helps slow absorption.

How to Start To Overcome Your Fear of Flying

Terrified of flying? Many people are. One study done by Opinion Research Corporation asked 2117 adults about their level of fear of flying. It was reported that 18.1% answered that they were afraid of flying while an additional 12.6% reported anxiety in regards to flying. That means that about 650 of those questioned have some level of anxiety or fear of flying. That’s a large portion of people!

The best thing you can do when it comes to fear of flying is to take action to get over the fear. If you sit around and let it control you then you may start to cancel important flights or let it cause havoc on your health as intense fear causes stress on the body and stress affects the body’s health.

Here are some ways to help you to start to take action to overcome your fear of flying.

Pinpoint Your Exact Fear

Maybe you are scared of the plane crashing or maybe you are scared of the plane running out of gas. There are many fears that you can have about flying and you need to figure out what your exact fear is before you can do anything about it. If you are fearful of more than one thing than admit it!

Once you have figured out what you are scared of write down all of your fears and the reasons you are scared. Decide whether any of those fears are irrational fears. These would most likely be fears of the plane roof flying off or something similar seen in a movie or TV show.

Knowledge is Power

In the case of fear of flying, ignorance is NOT bliss. Many fears can be alleviated through knowledge. The more you know the less you have to be afraid of, especially if your fear is an irrational fear.

Take the time to learn about planes and flying and focus on the areas you are scared of. If you are worried about the gas running out before you get to your destination than research how planes fuel up and the precautions they take to ensure the proper amount of fuel. Also, research what would happen in case of an empty fuel tank so you can see that procedures would be set in place.

Planes haven’t just started taking to the sky. There are set procedures in place and emergency procedures as well. They got it covered so to speak. Get out there and find out how they operate and you will find that your fear of flying will start to alleviate a bit.

Relax Yourself Before Takeoff

If you have a fear of flying then the last thing you want to do is get hyped up on caffeine or sugar before you flight. And while it may be tempting to order a drink before your flight you may find yourself even more anxious after your drink has been downed.

The best thing you can do is bring some calming music, some natural relaxants, and your best frame of mind. Once you sit in your seat on the plane get all of your calming things out and focus on them. If you have chosen music to relax with then get your earphones in your ears and start to drift into a happy place that you have set out for yourself.

You may want to read the fact sheet that is in the pocket in front of your seat. This will give you even further knowledge about the plane that you are on. Remember that knowledge is power.

Critical Book Review: From Values to Action by Harry M Jansen Kraemer Jr

Leadership books abound. Yet there are very few that put values first before all those all leadership skills. In this book, Harry Kraemer has identified the Four Principles of Values-Based Leadership and has shared his personal experiences to validate how these principles do work.

The gems of wisdom in this book are many. My book has more highlights than text in some places. What is unusual is the absence of the latest business speak and the simplicity of the message.

When leaders engage in Self-Reflection (Principle #1) followed by Balance, True Self Confidence and Genuine Humility, then the organization has a much greater chance of leading with values instead of with egos. After discussion of each these principles, Kraemer shares why positive core business ethics create greater shareholder value. He also invests some time discussing the difference between what is Legal and what is Right.

Talent management and leadership development are far more effective when approaching these two elements from a values driven position. After all, organizations are all about people united to achieve those big, hairy audacious goals that would be far more difficult if not impossible to achieve individually.

Kraemer believes that management from the C Suite down must own the leadership in the organization. To hand it off to Human Resources or any other department is wrong. The reason for the handout is usually the wrong people are in the wrong seats.

Silo thinking is also viewed within the circle of leadership. When this happens, my turf or silo becomes bigger than the organizations’ big vision and this creates poor performance.

Having a “clear direction” is also critical within a values based leadership organization. As Theodore Hesburgh once said “No one can follow an uncertain trumpet.” Kraemer believed in Einstein’s statement of “make everything as simple as possible, but no simpler.”

Feedback comes from a safe environment where people feel comfortable in speaking up. Effective communication must be “clear, simple, straightforward and concise.” One piece of advice Kraemer provides is to communicate three times as often in bad times. Another common sense observation is “when people relate, they will follow.” Leaders must be relatable to those near, around and those who perceived to be under the leader. The human touch makes for a good leader.

Another advantage to leading from a position of high ethics is motivation and team engagement. Teams do not come together naturally, but “are developed purposefully and with intention.”

The end result from values to action is precisely that action or execution and implementation. Kramer believes that failed execution can more often than not be laid at the feet of leadership and not extenuating circumstances.

Having read countless books on leadership, this is probably one of the best ones I have read in the last 10 years. Simple, direct, to the point and beyond everything else, this book makes just plain common sense.

Healthcare Leadership During Times Of Change: An Interview

To begin, what exactly is an interim executive?

An interim executive is a management professional who joins an organization to fill a particular role, with the understanding that he or she will be there for a short, predefined period of time. Typically, these executives arrive on very short notice – within a week or two – and as a result, take the pressure off a hospital as it searches for an executive who will take over the position on a permanent basis.

Can you describe the conditions under which a hospital should hire an interim?

Well, there are several. First, there may be a regulatory mandate that a particular position remain filled at all times. It may come from Medicare/Medicaid, a state-level Department of Health, or even a voluntary accrediting agency like a Joint Commission. Bringing an interim in will satisfy that requirement.

Second, there may be a knowledge deficit within the hospital. It might be preferable to fill a newly opened slot with an insider, in smaller hospitals in particular. However, there are often no other individuals in the organization – at any level – who have the skills necessary for filling in when a specific position becomes available.

And third, there may be internal candidates who, while promising, are not quite ready to step up into the newly opened position. In this case, an interim executive may assume the role temporarily, and mentor the internal candidate until he/she is ready to take on a permanent role.

For example, there was recently a New England hospital in need of an Emergency Department Director. They had a Nurse Manager as an internal candidate, but she needed more development time. An interim executive was brought in, and in a short amount of time the Nurse Manager was able to step up to the Director position.

Of course in a perfect world, your most-senior, most-critical staff members would give six months notice before they left. This would give you time to find a qualified candidate or develop internal executives for the new role. Unfortunately, that’s not the way it usually works.

What’s the risk of simply “doing without” for a little while, until a permanent person can be found?

The biggest risk is probably maintaining service quality. A hospital operates in “real time” – you can’t inventory services and save them for a rainy day the way you can a product. And in many respects, you can’t control demand either.

For example, your Emergency Room and your OR are functions that must run smoothly and efficiently at all times. If you lose a key executive in one of these areas, you risk creating disgruntled physicians, unhappy staff and dissatisfied patients, all of which can do serious harm to the reputation you’ve built up over time, not to mention your profitability.

When you bring an in interim executive to fill these critical roles you ensure that things continue to run as they should.

So it’s just about plugging the holes?

Actually no, it’s more than that. Interim executives are exceedingly well-qualified for the positions they fill. By definition, they are professionals who have vast experience and are ready to hit the ground running on day one. That means that when they arrive, they do much more than simply plug holes.

As I mentioned earlier, their work may involve mentoring less experienced staff. Or, it may involve working on projects that require a particular experience or expertise. For instance, an interim executive may manage the implementation of a new payroll system.

The thing to keep in mind is that in addition to meeting an immediate need of “plugging a hole,” interim executives arrive with a fresh set of eyes and, in some cases, decades of perspective and experience. Many organizations find that bringing an interim on board leads to an improvement in results, not simply a maintenance of the status quo.

How long does it take to bring an interim executive on board?

A hospital in New Hampshire needed a Manager of Perioperative Services. At the conclusion of the first discussion, the Chief Nursing Officer asked, “So, does this process take a couple of months?” When told that no, she would actually have somebody on site in about two weeks, she was flabbergasted. She had someone in there 13 days later.

Naturally, it’s going to depend on the particular situation, but part of the reason you look to hire an interim executive is because you have an immediate need. That’s days or weeks, not months.

In general, you can expect qualified resumes in 3-5 days. Statistics show that one out of every two resumes sent to clients is chosen for an assignment.

Wouldn’t it be better to just hire someone permanent, full-time?

In most cases, absolutely. I think it’s safe to say that in general, if hospitals could fill all their critical openings with leaders who were as good, as experienced and as readily available, there would be no such thing as interim executives. The reality, however, is that in today’s environment, that’s just not the case; the interim industry has come about as a direct result of this reality.

What’s the cost of an interim executive?

The rule of thumb in the industry is that the daily rate for an interim leader is billed out at approximately one percent of the gross annual salary. So if you have a person being reimbursed a hundred thousand dollars a year, that one percent is approximately one thousand dollars a day.

At first glance that may seem expensive. However as mentioned earlier, the real cost to consider is the cost of not having your hospital fully functional for a considerable period of time. During this time, the risk to your entire operation and its profitability is huge – interim executives ensure that you continue to operate as necessary, until a qualified, permanent candidate can come on board.

Why are interim executives more expensive to hire than permanent employees?

It’s simply supply and demand. If these positions were easy to fill, you wouldn’t need to hire an interim to begin with. The folks who work as interim leaders realize that there is a shortage of their particular expertise and there’s a cost to obtaining that.

Second, you’re paying for people who hit the ground running. If you give an interim the first half of the first day for some form of orientation to your practices, your systems, and your institution, they’ll be productive by that afternoon.

You’re obtaining an experienced, credentialed, well-trained individual who can get the job done from day one. In most cases, there literally is no learning curve.

How long should a company expect the interim executive to be in place?

Many interims start with a seventeen-week engagement, which is four months. In the course of that engagement, hospitals continue their recruitment process for a permanent executive. If it looks like there’s a need for an extension, they work that out.

Is the interim leader on the hospital’s payroll?

It depends on the interim firm you’re working with. It’s generally best for interim executives to be on the interim firm’s payroll, not yours.

The advantage of that arrangement is that if the interim doesn’t work out, for whatever reason, you’re not responsible for their benefits, Workers’ Compensation, etc. The firm simply moves that person out and finds you another.

Is this a new concept for hospitals?

Not exactly. Hospitals are quite familiar with traveling nurses for staff nurse positions and traveling radiology staff for radiology tech and radiology therapy positions. So in one sense, it’s a common practice. What’s different is that many hospitals are not well-versed yet on the concept of deploying interim executives in business-critical positions.

Is an interim leader different than a consultant?

Very different. A consultant will come through your organization, assess your systems and deliver a report telling you how things need to get done. They leave the report on your desk and walk out the door.

The interim executive also assesses your organization’s performance. However, the big difference is that he or she will then develop a plan for improvement, and implement the plan.

So, rather than simply offering advice as a consultant does, the interim actually works the situation through to reach a positive resolution with you and your staff.

Where do the interim executives come from?

Interims fall into three classifications: local, quasi-local and national. The best situation from the perspective of the hospital is to find someone in the immediate area – because it’s more cost-effective; not only in terms of their day rate, but in terms of the expense-related costs of bringing them on board. A local person costs you nothing beyond their day rate.

A quasi-local person, on the other hand, is someone who lives within about a three-hour drive of the hospital. The typical arrangement is to drive to work Monday morning, work through the week, and drive home Friday night. There’s no need in this case for a rental car or airfare, however, housing and other expenses during the work week come into play.

National interim executives are the most expensive option for obvious reasons. The need to search nationally is mostly a function of supply and demand for a particular type of expertise. For example, at the moment there is an acute shortage of individuals who can step in as a Director of Women’s Maternal Health or Director of Child Health Services. That would almost always be a national search.

The need to go national may also relate to the location of your specific hospital, with more rural locations tending to have fewer interim options nearby.

One last question. What happens if I like the interim executive and I want to hire him or her?

Here as well, it depends on the interim placement firm you work with. Some firms build a buyout directly into their client contracts. So while their business model may not be converting interim placements into permanent placements, they won’t stand in the way of a ‘marriage,’ if you will, either. Sometimes the chemistry is just so perfect that everyone involved decides to make it permanent.

You had a value at least one year of positive subsequent appointments with your doctor/allergist?

Whether it is valid you now are convenient wise health since your diagnosis and transition to a new way of life?

What your level of satisfaction as with your current choice of a daily choice of foodstuff?

If you buy the goods got in shop, always confirm, reading that label of a component. You could accept inside oats daily without your knowledge.

At those one cookies for snack, a breakfast/fiber plate, рубленого meat in a pan during a dinner, plus any other point by which you did not do independently for no reason, can be клейковина free oats as a component. All of them should be required also in your daily totals.

So, if oats originally, apparently, the infringer of calmness for you, register it with date, time, quantity for service and any comments or suitable details. Then it is necessary to transfer this information to your doctor. If, differently directed, do not avoid this new point in your diet again within approximately 6 months before to try any retesting.
